 First Release of Rare Camellia Species in Australia

From January 2013, the first release of rare and endangered camellias is being made by Australia's Camellia Ark project to subscribers across Australia In something of a first for garden conservation of camellias, over fifty rare camellias including species such as Camellia gauchowensis and Camellia edithae and even the Higo Camellia japonica Hiodoshi will be made available for purchase by up to sixty subscribers, including garden clubs and camellia enthusiasts. Over AUS$3500 in public subscriptions has been raised by the project, which is managed by the E.G.Waterhouse National Camellia Gardens in Sydney through prominent camellia nursery Camellias-R-Us at Glenorie, NSW.
